The Crowns of the Mother of God and of Baby Jesus
1758
In the crown of the Holy Virgin, at the base of the tiara, marked by two rows of pearls placed in two parallel curves, are set 13 gold scratches, of the kind found in the princely tombs. The crown rises majestically above them, in a row of intertwined circles, or harmoniously intertwined hearts, set in pearls at the borders. Seven large flowers, stylised in the au repousse technique, crown all this, in the centre of each flower being set a red precious stone, except the flower in the middle, which is blue. The other red cabochons mark the joints of the upper register.
As a whole, the crown of Baby Jesus is similar to the crown of the Holy Virgin, but for a few details. There are only nine golden scratches at the base of the tiara here. There are also fewer pearls, and the cabochon in the middle of the central flower is red, not blue. Additionally, on top of the crown, in the prolongation of the vertical axis of the central flower, a starred cross is set, with a diamond in the middle and four small oriental garnets at the farther ends of the arms.
