Epitrachelion

XVth century

In the upper part of the epitrachelion, which is to be worn around the neck, Jesus is depicted inside a medallion; while on his left and right there are two other medallions with archangel faces. Under these, on nine superimposed registers, there are eight alternating circular borders and ten rectangular ones, inside which eighteen saint faces are embroidered with golden, silver and silken threads. On their left and right, their names are written with Greek letters.


Up
