The Ascension

Draped in a red cloak, with very thin golden threads, Jesus ascends to Heaven surrounded by the bright green of a “glory” borne by two flying angels. Below him, in the centre, Virgin Mary stands, clad in a green robe and a red maphorion; to her right and left are the archangels in white robes and the twelve apostles. In the foreground, the figures of Peter and John stand out, as they watch in amazement the ascension of their teacher to heaven.
