The Descent into Hell

The Saviour is surrounded by golden rays. He holds in his left hand a long cross with three arms, and steps on the gates of hell which vanish at his appearance. On the bottom left-hand corner, Adam, kneeling, is held up by Jesus who helps him out of the grave. In the opposite corner, also in a kneeling position, Eve waits her turn to be saved.
