The diptych of Putna hermitage
written and adorned by hieromonk Natan
1768
A large Romanian manuscript, in-folio, written in the Cyrillic alphabet in black and red ink on laid thick paper, filigreed with several marks: a coat of arms with a princely crown above, and another coat of arms with a bird with spread wings on top of a column. The manuscript is bound in inlaid brown leather, stamped on both covers with golden and silver floral borders. In the centre of the first cover is stamped, in a pointed medallion, the face of Jesus in a halo of rays, while on the second cover, in a like medallion, is stamped the Nativity. Both engravings are golden.
