Psaltichie

XVth - XVIth century

In the former half, the book contains 53 songs in Greek and 25 in Slavonic, while in the latter half there are 54 songs only in Greek. The musical notes and the words to the songs are written in black ink on waxen thick paper, filigreed, in the former part, with aurochs’ heads holding a simple long cross between their horns or with a snake along it, and in the latter part, with the image of a unicorn in vertical position and a pair of scissors. The manuscript is bound in wooden covers, with brown leather, partly deteriorated, printed with linear concentric borders, decorated with flowery motifs on the first cover, and flowery and zoomorphous motifs on the second cover.
