Deisis Triptych

XVth century

Each icon is framed in silver, decorated with vegetal stylisations in the au repousse technique. It is a work of art of rare beauty, very well preserved; the tradition says that Stephen the Great used to have it in the saddle in all his battles. Legend also says that, before he died, Stephen donated the valuable triptych to Putna Monastery, and that, when he lay in state, it was placed on his chest until his burial.
