The usher

In medieval Moldavia, the usher was a high official whose duty was to welcome, announce and lead the messengers to the voivode of the country. It came to be used by this name as it was probably rung to welcome guests of note to Putna. It is a classical bell, of a common shape, decorated with a circular freize of vegetal motifs. The Three Hierarchs are cast at the base.
