Fântâna Albă – Our Nation’s Golgotha
Fântâna Albă – Our Nation’s Golgotha
In 2011, Romania declared April 1st National Day of Honoring the Memory of Romanians – Victims of the Massacres at Fântâna Albă and in Other Areas, of Deportations, of Famine, and Other Forms of Repression Organized by the Totalitarian Soviet Regime in the Romanian Historical Provinces of Herța, Northern Bukovina, and All Bessarabia.
The names of all those who perished in 1941 at Fântâna Albă are known only to God, like most of the names of those who died during the communist persecution. They all ascended the Golgotha of sacrifice in their earthly life so that the Romanian people might experience the joy of Resurrection.
Their sacrifice gives life and renews us as a people, just as the sacrifice of Christ renews us. In December 1989, the cry in Bucharest’s Revolution Square was, “We shall die and be free!” How can one die and be free? Only with God.
Therefore, we believe that God has appointed them among the martyrs of our nation and placed them alongside our holy ancestors.
Our remembrance and prayers are our spiritual duty towards those to whom we owe the dignity of bearing the name of Romanians.
Lord Jesus Christ, our God, please accept their sacrifice and give our nation the good thought and pure heart to fulfill Your will, so that we may all rejoice with Your saints in the Kingdom of Heaven!
The volume is also available in audio format. Listen to the audiobook in Romanian here.
