On Tuesday, the 10th of September 2024, we marked 100 years since the birth of Archimandrite Hyacinth Unciuleac, abbot of Putna Monastery between 1977 and 1992 and spiritual father of all Bukovina.
As a tribute to his blessed memory, the Putna monastic community organized the “Archimandrite Hyacinth Unciuleac at the 100th anniversary of his birth” Symposium – a spiritual synaxis dedicated to the great spiritual father.
The meeting began with a Hierarchal Divine Liturgy, celebrated from 8:00 by His Grace Damascene of Dorna, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuți, clergy from the diocesan administration and abbots of monasteries.
Afterwards, a Commemoration service and a Trisagion for Abbot Hyacinth Unciuleac were officiated at the elder’s tomb in the monastery cemetery.

The works of the symposium began at 13:30 with the launch of the book “Elder Hyacinth Unciuleac. Abbot and Confessor – 100 Years since His Birth", presented by Archimandrite Melchizedek Velnic, abbot of Putna Monastery and exarch of the monasteries of the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuți.
For this anniversary, with the support of the State Secretariate for Religious Affairs, Trinitas TV made the documentary “Archimandrite Hyacinth Unciuleac – Abbot and Confessor”. The film was presented by Father George Aniculoaie, editor-in-chief of the Documentary Film Department of Trinitas TV, together with Ms. Simona Ștefania Iordache, the film's director.
